The amazing 1080Media team are currently in Korea producing the TV for the Korean leg of the World Match Racing Tour.

As part of their production they are testing a live feed on SportzZone.tv - how cool is that.

Getting closer !

I am reliably informed by our development team that we are now only a matter of days away from launching.

The beta channel will be making history by bringing ALL sports under one umbrella - all sports from athletics to windsurfing.

At launch we will be focussing on 6 key sports - canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, snowsports, cycling and surfing then rolling others out as we get the content - looks like we could be up to about 30-40 in total in due course.

We're busy uploading content and have some great programmes to watch - stay tuned.

We have just finished our first studio shoot with 3 new presenters and are about to start uploading programming ready for launch.

Launch date is getting closer (4-6 weeks?) and we are still busy talking to sports federations, sponsors and programme distributors so we have the best possible selection of video material when we go live.

At last we have audition dates!

Can't wait to meet the guys face-to-face. We have some excellent candidates and looking forward to moving things on.

All can be revealed now - the reason everything was on hold was because our Production Partners, 1080 Media Org had the great honour of being chosen to run the online/in-house TV operation for BMW Oracle Racing at the recent America's Cup in Valencia. The team won the cup and we didn't get much sleep.

Presenter search.

We have just finished running a few ads for a male and female presenter for the channel and what a brilliant response we had.

Over 60 excellent candidates, now the hard work comes, to reduce this to a manageable number to audition.

We are expecting to meet with about a dozen in the New Year.

PS. We will always be on the lookout for excellent specialist presenters for the various sports, so if you know somebody who might fit the bill, tell them to contact us.

As we approach our launch date, we are being sent some amazing video material. We particularly like the way this is cut to the music.

We will have a wide range of programming, from training and coaching resources, event coverage and tips'n'tricks to interviews, technical stuff and general fun content - across over 20 different sports.

If you have high quality (ideally professional broadcast) content that could, entertain, excite, inspire, educate, inform or generally engage with our young audience, we would love to hear from you.

We are currently sifting through hundreds of hours of material, across a whole range of sports. We also have a very discerning audience who have been largely overlooked when it comes to mainstream sports, so we are always on the lookout for good material, either finished programmes or content we can edit into our magazine style format.

Having had a test player up and running faultlessly for quite some time now, we are currently evaluating the latest breed of IPTV solutions. So much has changed since we started this project. We are now looking at interactive video ads and some very clever links direct to the key social networking sites. Hopefully the big ad agencies will have woken up to this astonishing new 'broadcast' technology by the time we start knocking on their doors in ernest!

If ever anyone needed convincing of the superb quality of video now possible with even a quite modest broadband line - check this out. Even if you don't like Icelandic bands, you cannot fail to be impressed with the awesome video quality!

Meetings, meetings and more meetings - we love 'em!

We are currently on a big trail around a variety of interesting meetings and presentations, talking to everybody from MP's, Shadow Ministers, National Governing Bodies of Sport and sports stakeholders in general to sponsors, advertising agencies and independant video producers and the response has been little short of amazing.

About the target audience.

We are targeting several sectors:

Start - Encouraging more young people into sport or an active lifestyle

Stay - Helping commited sports enthusiasts get more out of their sport

Succeed - Showcasing the activities and achievements of our junior champions

We are 100% focused on targeting young people, male and female - they are likely to be in school, college or university and aged between 12 & 20+.

They will have an active interest in sport - any team/individual sport, olympic sport or freesport/extreme sport.

We fully acknowledge this will not all be achieved overnight. In the first instance we will be targeting those already hooked on sport, then roll-out new resources to engage and inspire new sectors of the young viewing audience.
